Singapore's FIRST olympic medal

by the table tennis girls.

CONGRATS Li Jiawei, Wang Yuegu and Feng Tianwei.

Well, they've guaranteed themselves a sliver medal at least.
and that means they've secured S$500,000 prize reward minimum.

The Olympics was broadcasted in my school's televisions,
outside office, bookshop, 2 in canteen, nexus etc..

Today was the start of the athlete events and,
i saw USAIN BOLT and ASAFA POWELL in action..
missed TYSON GAY's heats. =D

these three are the most likely to win/ break the world record.
this year. yes. we have both existing and the old record holder..
omg. its gg to be exciting!! i cant wait. =]]

anw, today, the main highlight was..
the TABLE TENNIS GAMES in the afternoon.

we're supposed to be having maths test. XD
sad case.
but at the last 30min,
the crucial round, everyone ran out.
"to the toilet" to watch the exciting games... =\

..

.
...

i was one of them. XDD
OMG. they're damn good. (:
i'd say korea had put on a good fight.
it was close, it ended off with a mistake by korea.

too bad. tt's life.
in competitions, we have to ensure we do not let the pressure get to us.
our mistake will be the opponent's gain, and vise versa,
there is no fair or not, graceful or not a win.
a win is still a win. =]]

we have the entire canteen full of students,
the nexus [air-conditioned room] packed,
other parts of the school too,
with hundreds pairs of eyes staring on those tvs.

was wondering..
why are these people watching/supporting the game?

is it because:

1. they love the game [table tennis]?

2. they love the players [Li Jiawei, Wang Yuegu or Feng Tianwei]?

3. they love the country [Singapore]?

why are other people not watching/not supporting us?

is it because:

1. they are not local?

2. they are simply not interested?

3. they hate the players?

4. they hate singapore?

5. they found it irrelevant to them?

I've concluded that it all comes down to one thing:
"pride"

for the players:

its merely for
PRIDE
FAME
GLORY
MONEY
PASSION?

i'd say, definitely not because they are now singapore citizens,
they feel rooted or they dislike china, what so ever.

all our players are born in china.
see the irony?

first. they are not born in singapore.
second. they are representing singapore.
third. singaporeans are cheering for them.

for the country/citizens:

it is MONEY for TALENT.
to buy them, for our own
NATIONAL PRIDE..

its a DEAL. got it?
its not love for the country what so ever.

and the locals, like me.
i was one of them who got super excited,
and was shouting, cheering for the team. (:

we are not cheering for the players.
we are cheering on SINGAPORE.
cus we are singaporeans, national pride.

who cares if the players are local or not,
from china or india or any other country.

who cares about who they are?

we are only concerned about whether is our homeland,
SINGAPORE going to win or not.
whether are we gg to get that medal or not.

and back to my point.
about foreign talent, representing us.

haha. we all know what is globalisation.
we talk about it, if not hear about it.

in today's world, NOTHING IS FAIR.
the strong will dominate.

with modern technology, nothing cannot be done.
u can make urself taller, for basketball?
u can fix on blades if u got no legs to run.

with MONEY, u can buy the best talents to compete for u.
money makes the world goes round
doesn't it?

that is how realistic the world is.
it is how everybody, every nation, every organisation works.

u're good, u'd have a high value and would be sought after.
u're not, too bad.

the better organisation got better to offer, get all the talents.
not so attractive ones, work on it, compete for them.
